All-natural ways to deal with mosquitoes

We’re in the middle of summer and we’re loving it! Sunbathing at the beach, going on long walks through the park and dining “al fresco” are on the positive side of summer enjoyment.  On the negative side—mosquito bites.  Covering exposed skin with sticky bug spray is pretty unappealing, especially when humidity and perspiration are factored in.

Here are a few all-natural tips for keeping mosquitoes away:

To Repel:

1.White Vinegar

Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and spritz exposed skin before going outdoors.  This vinegar has antibacterial properties which repel mosquitos and other bugs.

2. Citronella

Otherwise known as the mosquito plant geranium, citronella is commonly used in natural bug repellent sprays and candles, giving off a scent that mosquitos don’t like.

3. Lemon-Eucalyptus Oil

Mosquitoes are.attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale, as well as to our body heat, which signals a hot meal coursing through our veins.  Using lemon-eucalyptus oil effectively masks your scent,.

To Soothe:

1. Aloe Vera

In the same way aloe vera soothes sunburns, it also relieves other bites and burns. Buy an aloe vera plant and break off a small piece, squeeze out the aloe juice and apply to the irritated area.  You can use this curative plant all year round.

2.Lavender Oil

A natural analgesic with a soothing scent, lavender oil can help calm redness or irritation caused by mosquito bites.
