Is Eye Cream Really Necessary?

With so many different types of skincare products on the market, it’s hard to know which ones are the most helpful. Unfortunately, many people skip using eye creams and instead use their regular face moisturizer around their eyes, hoping to save a few extra bucks.

So, are eye creams just face creams in smaller bottles? The short answer is NO! The fragile skin around the eyes has different needs than the rest of your face, so you need a special product that addresses those needs.  But before we get into the importance of eye creams, let’s do a quick refresher on how and why wrinkles occur.

A Quick Primer on Wrinkles

Fines lines and wrinkles develop for three main reasons:

1.     Free Radical Damage

Free radicals (from UV rays, pollution, etc.) damage cellular DNA, so skin cells can’t reproduce as efficiently. Skin quality declines over time, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles.

2.     Natural decline of collagen production

Collagen is the protein that gives young skin its supple texture with a remarkable ability to bounce back from all of our facial expressions. As we age, however, collagen production naturally drops off and our skin loses its elasticity. Skin doesn’t bounce back as easily, and fine lines develop.

3.     Glycation

Excess sugar molecules damage the body’s proteins, causing a whole host of health problems. Glycation also affects skin proteins, resulting in fine lines and wrinkles.

While aging is inevitable, you can delay signs of aging by addressing their causes with specially formulated skin care products.

Why Our Eyes Need Special Attention

The skin of eye area is thinner than the skin on the rest of your face. There’s less collagen in the area to begin with, so it’s the first place to take a hit when collagen production declines.  Plus, the skin around the eyes is pulled and stretched every time you make an expression.
Additionally, the eye area has less oil glands is also more prone to dryness, which further contributes to fine lines and wrinkles. Finally, fluids tend to pool under the eyes, causing dark circles and bags.

Thus, your eyes have different requirements for hydration and nourishment than the rest of your face. They need a little extra TLC from an eye cream!

Ingredients That Help to Improve the Eye Area

Eye creams are thicker than face creams and are formulated to address the specific issues of the eye area. Our Eye Cream is packed with skin-nourishing ingredients like:

Hyaluronic acid - Plumps, hydrates, and replenishes skin
Carnosine - Protects skin from glycation and improves cellular regeneration
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil - Defends skin from aging free radicals with its rich antioxidant content
Glycerin - Creates a protective layer to lock moisture into the eye area for long-term hydration
Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil - Encourages collagen production with a host of essential nutrients
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract - Reduces eye bags and puffiness with anti-inflammatory properties

The Right Way to Apply Eye Cream

If you’re not using an eye cream already, the best time to start is now! Even if you’re in your 20’s, our Eye Cream includes antioxidants that will help to prevent damage before it occurs.

For best results, use eye creams day and night. When applying eye cream, always use your ring finger to gently dab the cream onto the skin. Don’t rub product into skin, as the tugging will just cause more wrinkles. Allow product to absorb completely before applying makeup.

How To Properly Remove Makeup

Foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush. We all love our makeup, right? Of course! But you know what we don’t love? Layers of old makeup sitting on the surface of our skin. Yuck! Say hello to breakouts, blemishes, and blackheads galore. No thank you!

If you’re tired of rubbing your skin raw with harsh chemicals, it’s about time you learn how to properly remove your makeup. Trust us, when it comes to the dewy, glowy complexion of your dreams, it all starts with a blank canvas.

Here’s how you can get your face squeaky clean after makeup use:

Step 1: Find the right products

Still using soap and water to wash your face? Graduated to makeup wipes? Maybe you picked up a solution from your local drugstore.

Well, let us ask you this: do your eyes burn when you use these products? Do you still wake up in the morning with the dreaded raccoon eyes?

Yeah, that’s what we thought, and that’s why we want to introduce you to our 2-Phase Makeup Remover.

Not only is this makeup remover gentle enough to use on eye makeup (say buh-bye to raccoon eyes!), but it also simultaneously soothes and moisturizes your skin with aloe vera extract, ripe melons, and sweet almond oil.

Step 2: Gentle Use

Scrub, scrub, scrub.

To remove your makeup, you’ve got to scrub it all away for clear pores, right?

Wrong!

This is one of the most common misconceptions people have when it comes to cleansing their face.

Even for those who don’t have sensitive skin, you should never, ever be harsh when cleaning. Massage your skin gently, letting your fingers lightly skim over your face while washing. You can also use a cotton pad, but again, there’s no need to scrub. In fact, because our 2-Phase Makeup Remover is so effective, you’ll likely find a simple swipe is all you need to lift the makeup off your face.

Step 3: Regular Use

And last, but certainly not least, having the right product and knowing the proper method for application is all fine and dandy, but if you’re not actually using the product consistently, well, kiss the best skin of your life goodbye!

Every time you wear makeup, you need to remove said makeup. No ifs, ands, or buts. Sleeping in day-old makeup is not only going to result in an immediate breakout, it’s also going to cause a buildup of dirt and oil beneath the surface of the skin, clogging your pores. These clogged pores will lead to more breakouts down the line. So, invest in the future of your skin by using makeup remover every single time you wear makeup!

And that’s it! It’s truly as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Remove your makeup with a gentle makeup remover like our 2-Phase Make Remover, use that product properly, and most importantly, use that product regularly. Complete all three steps, and you’ll have no doubts about where your newfound radiant glow is coming from.
